Today I learned of the passing of Larry Hoppen, a founding member of the pop/rock group Orleans and one of the truly memorable voices of the 70s and early 80s. Hoppen died on Tuesday in Florida. at Ithaca College (1967-69), he left to pursue a career as a musical artist and has never looked back. Then when my daughter was in her sophomore year of high school, I ran for the school board because by the time she entered her senior year, I wanted there to be a budget so that they could afford new computers or have advance placement programs and to have history and languages in these departments and not be cut back. | Hoppen's passing was initially. He was a founding member of Boffalongo and had two albums released by United Artists. The band scored its biggest hits with Still the One, Dance with Me and Love Takes Time. Orleans continued to tour without Hall and had a current schedule of performances to mark the bands 40th anniversary.
